Everton are said to be weighing up a £2m move for highly-rated Montpellier all-rounder Benjamin Stambouli this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 23-year-old is equally at home in defence as he is in midfield and club’s across Europe have been made aware of his availability as his contract expires in the summer of 2015.

The Toffees has been keeping tabs on him this season with the view of making a move to bring him on board next season as Roberto Martinez views him as the ideal man to add some more grit to his first team.

Despite Montpellier struggling in Ligue 1 this season, Stambouli has been an ever-present in Louis Nicollin’s squad.

A number of sides from across Europe are else keen on landing his signature, with fellow Premier League side Newcastle United also said to be interested in making an approach.

Stambouli first broke into the Montpellier first team back in 2010 and has since gone on to make 93 appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

He was also a key member of the squad that won the Ligue 1 title in 2012, and Martinez believes his versatility will be a huge asset for his side next term.
