Manchester United want permanent transfer for powerhouse midfielder

Category: Uncategorized

According to reports, Manchester United would be willing to let Marouane Fellaini leave the club, but only on a permanent deal.

The Mirror note that there has been considerable interest in the Belgian international, with AS Roma, Juventus and AC Milan all understood to be eyeing a loan move to take the ex-Everton man to Serie A.

However, while all three heavyweights have been rebuffed in their attempts to sign the player on a temporary basis, there is still a chance the player will leave in January.

The Mirror note that Fellaini would be allowed to leave, but only on a temporary basis, with LVG keen to recoup at least half of the £27.5 million the Red Devils spent to sign the 6 ft 4 star from Everton during the summer of 2013 [BBC].

In light of the summer arrivals of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger, as well as the presence of the likes of Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Michael Carrick, Fellaini has found it hard to get game time as either a central midfielder or as a No. 10—his two favoured positions—so far this season.

Indeed, the international has managed just 10 appearances in the Premier League so far this term, scoring once.

Van Gaal has used him occasionally as a battering-ram striker, but the 28-year-old is yet to prove that he can be a genuine threat on a consistent basis in this position.

Of his potential suitors, Roma may be the most desperate, with the Giallorossi chronically short of central midfielders at the moment due to an injury crisis.
