Tottenham set to be disappointed as Hiddink issues transfer update on Chelsea international

Category: Uncategorized

Tottenham Hotspur‘s hopes of signing Loic Remy during the January transfer window have been dashed after Guus Hiddink confirmed the Chelsea forward won’t be going anywhere.

The French international has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, but, speaking to the media [as per The Guardian], the Blues’ interim coach has insisted that the former OGC Nice striker will be sitting out the January transfer window in west London.

Indeed, while Remy has been something of a peripheral figure for the Blues to date this season—managing just one goal in the Premier League—Hiddink has insisted that the attacker, who is recently finding his way back to fitness following an injury, could have a key role to play in the coming months.

“Because we have this multitude of games, I hope Remy picks it up,” the Dutch coach began.

“I hope he will deliver if he is needed. It’s short [the options up front], that’s true. I hope they will stay fit. When we have Costa and him – that’s why I hope Remy can make his next step and get even more fit.

“At the moment, no [Remy will not leave]. He will stay until the end of the season.”

The news is set to disappoint the player’s host of suitors, including Tottenham, who have been eyeing a loan move for the in-demand attacker during the January transfer window [as per the Mirror].

Back in France, both LOSC Lille [Goal] and AS Monaco [L’Equipe via Le Figaro] have been linked with a move for the player, while Premier League trio Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are all understood to be keeping tabs on the ex-Marseille hitman [Daily Mail].
