Manchester United starlet tipped to ‘make history’ at club by teammate

Category: Uncategorized

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has shared his belief that youngster Marcus Rashford will go on and write his own chapter in the club’s history.

The 18-year-old has rapidly risen through the ranks at Old Trafford and was handed his opportunity by Louis van Gaal earlier this season in the Europa League.

Having grabbed his chance, Rashford has gone on to score seven goals in 12 senior appearances, and has now become a mainstay in the line-up.

Similarly to many both inside and outside of the club, De Gea has been left impressed by his young teammate and firmly believes that he can go on and enjoy great success with the Red Devils.

“It’s unbelievable, no?” he said, as noted by Sky Sports. “This player is really young and he’s scored many goals.

“Hopefully, for many years, he’ll be in this club and can make history for the club as well. He’s a shy guy, he is a really good lad and a good team-mate. He’s a really good guy.”

Rashford will likely face numerous obstacles in his bid to live up to De Gea’s expectations, namely increased competition and stiffer tests against his rivals who are becoming more aware of his threat and talents.

United will likely strengthen this summer, particularly in terms of options up front, and that will mean that Rashford will have to convince his manager that he deserves to remain first-choice.

Furthermore, at just 18 years of age, the Manchester native still has a long way to go to prove that he can consistently deliver as that ultimately will determine whether or not he is merely a one-season wonder or a player that can become a fundamental part of the team’s success.

The early signs are certainly promising, and United coaches, players and supporters alike will continue to hope that he can maintain his current trajectory and continue to improve.
