£20m Arsenal transfer target addresses bid for first time

Category: Uncategorized

After weeks of nothing but behind-the-scenes proposals and announcements about Jamie Vardy‘s transfer move to Arsenal, the Leicester City striker himself finally responded to questions regarding his possible move to Arsene Wenger’s side.

Speaking following England’s win over Wales this past week, Vardy insisted that he is not thinking about his future in club football at this time and is concentrating on what he is doing for England.

“It’s been easy (to shut that out),” Vardy said, per the Express.

“I’m here to concentrate and focus on England and that’s all I’m going to be doing.”

Vardy was the Premier League’s second-leading scorer with 24 goals this past season, setting a new BPL record by going 11 consecutive games scoring a goal. His dominance up front made him an integral part of Leicester City’s Premier League title win, and he was rewarded with PFA Team of the Year Honours and the Premier League Player of the Season Award.

Arsenal reportedly bid £20 million to trigger his release clause several weeks ago, but the 29-year-old striker balked at signing any deals with the Gunners before flying out to France to join the England national team.
